A Honda Dealership Repairs

There is a Honda Dealershp in Alexandria, La it is called Walker Honda.
We have only had three experiences with them. The first time My wife had a problem with a oil seal on her 94 Honda Accord spewing oil out the motor. She had it towed to the local Honda dealership (Walker Honda). This was while she was visiting her parents in 98. They fixed it under warranty. It was a known problem and Honda had a fix for it. Well that sounds good, but that is not all of the story.
After about a year the seal blew out again. This time I had it towed to David McDavid Dealership in Irving, TX. David McDavid service and repair center said that the seal that Walker Honda installed was installed incorrectly. It seems they didn't install a metal retaining peace that came with the replacement seal kit. The seal that David McDavid installed never had a problem. We traded the 94 Accord for a Pilot in 2003 with 120,000 miles on it.
In my opinion Walker Honda did not do the job they were paid to do correctly. They should be forced to give the money back. After all Honda warranty paid for the repairs, and they were cheated. Because the warranty had to pay for it again at David McDavid.

The second experience with Walker Honda. My wife had a warning break light come on while she was down there again. This time she was in her 03 Honda pilot. She took it in to find out what it was. Walker Honda said it was a break light out. My wife had them change it. She had the Oil changed while she was there. The service lady there started telling her that the timing belt need to be replaced on the 03 Honda pilot. Using scare Tactics telling all these horrible things could happen. Just like it reaches that magic number of miles and boom the belt breaks. Just like she wouldn't make it back home to DFW, TX area.

Well when she got home a few days later a guy where she parks at said that something was wrong with her break lights. When she got home that night I looked at the lights while she stepped on the break. The break light on the side that Walker Honda fixed was put in where the turn signal light should have been and the turn signal was where the break light should have been.

In my opinion They shouldn't be in car repair if they can't change a break light bulb and put it back in the same place it came out of. I guess my wife is lucky the drain plug didn't fall out of the oil pan on the way home to DFW area. I did check the drain plug and oil filter to see if they were put on correctly.
A Plus is My wife made it home and the timing belt didn't break. Like they tried to scare her with. We had it replaced when it was due 5k miles later.

Now just about a month ago I got a Honda Ridgeline and gave my 02 Honda CRV to my mother in-law. The Honda CRV had been very good and I think she will get a lot of good miles out of it. The down side is, about two weeks after I gave it to her the air conditioner stopped working. That A/C never gave me any trouble at all. The whole time I have had the vehicle. Well my in-laws took it into Walker Honda and it cost $3765.00 plus the $95.00 estimate fee. They replaced the whole A/C unit. A part in the compressor had broken they said. They said it contaminated the whole system.
I think it was more scare tactics.

In My opinion Walker Honda over charged her for the service and parts. I called three Honda Dealerships in the DFW area and they all are over $1000.00 less for the same work. I don't know for sure, but it could have been a blown fuse and I think they would have done the same thing. They would have told her it was the compressor and replaced everything. They must pay their mechanics more money at that dealerships. Maybe the service manager gets to pocket all that extra money. They wouldn't even call Honda to see if they would do a good faith reimbursement for a known problem with those compressors. I think that is because Walker Honda didn't want to do the paper work to get the reimbursement, or wait for payment. Maybe they didn't want Honda to know how much they are over charging for the repairs to cars there at Walker Honda.

My wife and I have owned 94 Accord, 02 CRV, 03 Pilot and my Ridgeline. After this my wife has said her next vehicle will not be a Honda. I have just bought my Ridgeline. I am thinking that I may not be getting anymore Hondas as well. If Honda is going to let this dealership continue to do bad repair work and over charge people for repairs. Use scare tactics to try to get people to do the major services there at Walker Honda, knowing good and well there is no danger of it breaking down anytime soon.

If you live in Alexandria, La I wouldn't have any repair done there at Walker Honda. I think you would be better off taking it to a service station mechanic to have the work done.

If you are thinking about buying a Honda at Walker Honda I would think twice about it. I have seen first hand how their repair work is done.
I just hope that my mother in-laws A/C keeps working after they worked on it. If she needs anything else done to the CRV, I will go down there and drive it, tow it or drag it to Honda in Shreveport, La to have the work done. I Just don't trust Walker Honda at all anymore.

Well That is our experiences with Walker Honda in Alexandria, La. I am posting this because I want to save people from this kind of bad repair work.
I believe most Honda dealership repair centers are very good, trustworthy and fair. We have own 4 Hondas and have serviced them At David McDavid Honda, John Eagle Honda and Huggins Honda. We have never had any issues with any of them.

But I believe that Walker Honda isn't any good, trustworthy or fair. I think they do bad repair work. Also they over charge for the service and parts. I also think they took advantage of us because we were from out of town. Or maybe it was just because we didn't buy the vehicles from Walker Honda.

When people are away from home, and they need auto repairs done. They tend to go to dealerships they think they can trust. That is in hopes they don't get taken by Bubba the shade tree mechanic. We have all heard story's about those repair shops along the highways of the US that take advantage of people that happen to break down near them. Some of them even break things just so they can get more money the repairs.

All the above is my opinion and my warning to save you from all this kind of awful repair work and questionable business practices.

Take it for what it is worth.

Good luck!

May GOD be with you.
